Like yesterday, the day began with Italian language class,
where we learned to say greetings and we’re introduced to verbs! Our professor
was really enthusiastic about these verbs so I guess that means something
great, however I am not quite sure what. After class we all went over to our
friends Pino, from the wine tasting’s café to get sandwiches for lunch. They
were quite delicious and easily the best I have had here yet! Today I took two
trips to get gelato! First I went back to the chocolate gelato place, like
yesterday and got hazelnut and vanilla. Both were extremely good! After lunch a
small group of us went across the river to a point (I am blanking on the name),
where you can see ALL of Florence! Everything from Ponte Vecchio to the Duomo!
We climbed up all these small slope and stairs before reaching the top of this
open area with a replica of the statue of David! It was pretty exquisite! The
day continued with a stop back at the school, to complete some works on
projects for our Leadership class and then concluded with a diner at a very
nice restaurant hosted by CAPA, our school. It was a welcome diner, which was
designed to make us eat till we were beyond full. I believe the total count was
12 courses! It was amazing though. We began with small appetizers and bread. A
specific appetizer that I found amazing was some form of corn that seemed like barley,
which was mixed with mozzarella, tomato and cucumber and was delicious. As
well, there was this sauce presented on top of a triangle of cheese called peperone
sauce. It was made out of actual peppers and sugar. It reminded me of some real
Texas jams, I loved it! The main dishes consisted of ravioli, pesto gnoggi and
spicy pasta, which all were great! Whenever you thought you were done, more
food kept coming out of the kitchen. Lastly desert was this dish that almost
looked like white jello with blueberries and blueberries sauce on top. It
melted in you mouth with every bite you took! It was almost like a different form
of whipped cream, but better!
