Day 2
Today was a fairly short day. Regina and I had our first Italian breakfast, which I have quickly found to be not as great as the other meals. It seems that breakfast consist mainly of bread and jam. I have to admit, I did not really enjoy it, but all the others make up for it. At 10:00, we met with the group at the school where we will be taking classes to go through a quick orientation. After orientation we went on a walking tour of Florence, but first we stopped for a quick slice of pizza! My first real Italian pizza! I got pesto pizza and it was exisitio! Because it was overcast and rainy most of the day, the tour itself was not really exciting. Everyone was prepared for a warm, beautiful sunny day and it ended up being cold and rainy. Most of what we saw on the tour is what I had seen yesterday, so there was nothing really new to get very excited over. Once the tour was over a group of us went to a random cafĂ© to get coffee and deserts. I got my first shot of espresso! Needless to say, I hated it, it was way to strong for me and I already don’t really like coffee as it is. So today was not as fabulous as yesterday, but I guess that can only mean everything will go up from here. However, dinner with our host was very good, I think her goal may be to make sure were 100% full at dinner. Our appetizer was simple spaghetti with marinara sauce, but it was amazing! I have never tasted pasta so good. As well the insalata we had was so fresh and delicious and we ended the meal with melona that again was full of flavor and was as sweet as can be. I have never tasted food with so much flavor and richness!
